Released in 1982, this was a Grammy Award Winning song for Melissa Manchester. She had been known for ballads up through this point in her career, so this was a departure from her normal genre. Of the song she said, "...But I cut my hair off, lost lots of weight, glammed up, and sent it up the flagpole - and it worked! It worked all the way to a Grammy, which was kind of surprising." It was Melissa Manchester's highest chart topper and her last Top Ten Hit. But hey, for a Grammy? It doesn't sound like she has a lot to complain about.
